Last year Japanese based Diskotopia were responsible for releasing the excellent ‘She’s a Vector’ EP by Slackk and ‘VHS Nite’ by BD1982, and the label shifted styles a bit in the heady days of summer with the retro dancefloor stylings of a self-titled EP from Greeen Linez. The duo reprised their smooth sounds for a new track on the recently released ‘Diskotopia Volume One‘ showcase compilation that features cuts from label bosses BD1982 and A Taut Line, as well some diverse material from the likes of Visionist, Shy One, Savage, RLP, and Hum + Buzz co-owner Optimum, who delivers a nice slice of electro futurism.

Brooklyn producer Travis Stewart better known as Machinedrum or one half of Sepalcure, is a busy man and his most recent solo outing saw the release of the acclaimed ‘SXLND’ EP on LuckyMe. Whereas that largely touches on a more Chicago and UK influenced house side of things, this remix of the latest single to be taken from the forthcoming Gang Colours debut long player ‘The Keychain Collection’ mixes up elements of jungle and footwork, which was evident on Stewart’s own ‘Room(s)’ album, and which will be the focus of the Dream Contiuum venture with Om Unit on Planet Mu that ‘aims to find the sweet spot between between mid-nineties euphoric jungle and footwork’.

In response to breaking a mind boggling fifty thousand followers on Soundcloud and in recognition of the platforms ‘incredible power of association’, always inventive Los Angeles producer Alfred Darlington otherwise known has Deadelus recently posted up a set of carefully selected chopped and screwed remixes, of which he says ‘it isn’t anything hype or stressed; all ominous and mostly mellow’. Tracks featured include ‘Perfect Kiss’ by New Order, Dntel’s classic ‘Anywhere Anyone’, a creepy version of ‘Music Sounds Better With You’ by Stardust, and this interpretation of ‘Heliospan’ from Selected Ambient Works 85-92 by Aphex Twin.

For the last couple of years Aus Music has been steadily releasing some excellent house music from artists such as Cottam, Joy Orbison, Ramadanman, SCB, Midland and Appleblim, with the most recent coming from Lee Jones, and label boss Will Saul recently put together a half hour restrospective mix for Mixmag featuring highlights from the past releases. In terms of the future, keep a look out for an new EP from Midland featuring five original tracks, as well as forthcoming material from George Fitzgerald, Cottam and SCB.

New York duo Sepalcure are about to embark on a European tour the begins in Glasgow on February 2nd, before moving onto dates including Amsterdam, London and Torino. Sougwen Chung, who is responsible for the artwork on the duo’s physical releases, including their self-titled debut album, will provide the visuals and has put together a nice promotional video for the upcoming dates.

The forthcoming single ’3 Hours’ from Berlin based Emika’s self titled debut album on Ninja Tune is out next month and features, among other things, a brand new version of the track courtesy of a collaboration with fellow Berlin resident Jimmy Edgar. A competiton that has just started running to rework the track grants the entrants complete creative freedom to take as much or little from the original track as they wish, including using their own composed sounds, vocals or orchestration, with the only requirements being the compostion can be linked to the original and it’s uploaded to Soundcloud by March 23rd. The second release from the recently established Soul Motive sister label 2 Floors Down is on the way from electro-acoustic collective Isola Dusk, who follow up their ‘Call Your Name’ EP on Dark Clover with three tracks of ‘romantic and bleak sounds’ that make up the ‘Waiting For You’ EP. It’s available to buy directly from the label on digital format from next month, or later this week on custom made 10″ dub plates courtesy of the Bristol based label’s partnership with Dub Studio, and here’s a stream of the title track.

Bristol producer Guy Middleton otherwise known as Guido, who was responsible for the fine ‘Orchestral Lab’ single on Punch Drunk and the later ‘Anidea’ debut album, officially launches his own State Of Joy label on Monday with a couple of synth-driven, melody-oriented dubstep tracks ‘Micro X’ and ‘Vessel Dogs’. He recently said in an interview the name of the label is a reference to joy being ‘the underlying natural human state…it is a reminder of that because there are a lot of distractions…it’s about realising every moment is extraordinary’ and has just given away this track as part of a three-track package which is available for download here.

One time Leeds producer Jamie Grind who now calls London home has previously released music on Fortified Audio and Infrasonics, and his ‘Rum N Raisin’ EP is out through Wicked Bass in a couple of weeks time, featuring two nice new tunes and a couple of remixes courtesy of Throwing Snow and Hackman. He recently gave away a free four-track EP which is available for download here that includes the up-front, old school garage vibe of ‘Bad Attitude’ as well as this track ‘Don’t Feel Right’ which is on bit of a deeper tip.

Berlin based Chris Clark or just Clark follows up the ‘Totems Flare’ album from three years ago with a new long player ‘Iradelphic’ in April on Warp, which was recorded in numerous locations around the world using a diverse range of tools ranging from vintage cold war-era microphones, modern studio set ups, crumbling cassettes, laptop microphones and dictaphones. Referring to the release as ‘looming, ambiguous, radiant’, he says making it felt like a massive test in terms of transforming all the disparate instumentation and resulting shifts in mood into something with a unified, homogenous whole.
