The Usual Drama

The ‘Wildfire’ EP by Chairman Kato that was put out on Pictures Music in February is described as ‘hazy soundscapes…intricate and thickly laden synth productions’ with the well rounded ‘Gemini Eyes’ being a particular highlight. The deeply textured and fuzzy music is heavily influenced by electronic music from the seventies and eighties ‘when synths were new and there was a spirit of experimentation and excitement’ said the London based producer at the time of the release, he continued ‘it reminded me that electronic music is supposed to convey an emotion’. Film scores and in particular John Carpenter soundtracks also play a big part, which is pretty apparent from this recent giveaway.
