When Tom Jenkison aka Squarepusher announced the release of his upcoming album ‘Uafbulum’ on Warp Records he promised a return to pure electronic music with something that would be ‘extremely melodic and aggressive’ and the statement appears to have been backed up by some newly released visuals for ‘Dark Steering’. Explaining the motivation behind the video, he recently said ‘for a while I had apocalyptic nightmares about trails of nuclear missiles in the night sky, so I aimed to recreate that strange combination of exhilaration, terror and sadness both visually and emotionally through this piece’. The album is out mid-way through next month, and following a new live show that recently premiered in New York, it’ll be taken on the road for a tour that takes in mostly festival appearances, including all three Sonar dates in Barcelona, Tokyo and São Paulo.
