Bags Of Time

London beat maker Kel McKeown aka Kelpe follows up his recent ‘I Felt Fuzzy’ EP on Svetlana Industries with three new original tracks and one banging remix from Lone protégé and Magic Wire producer Neon Jung. Out on October 1st, the music featured on ‘Bags Of Time’ displays an altogether more gritty and darker sound than it’s predecessor, which is something that was apparently driven by a newly acquired Roland 606, and an increasing move towards working with hardware rather than software. Described by the label as ‘tougher and stripped down…the summery lushness is gone, replaced by a steely intent…a forward facing determination, a desire to flex some muscle’, here’s the busted analog funk of the title track, which is built upon a rhythm played on a famous chef’s set of pots and pans by Kelpe’s live drummer Chris Walmsley.[via]
