Time Spent Away

You’ll no doubt remember all the hype surrounding the 2010 release of the debut full-length ‘North’ by Darkstar on Hyperdub. The grey sounding synth-pop, that transcended the dark energy of dubstep popular at the time, was referred to in such terms as ‘a brave, low-key pop masterpiece’ and ‘a classic record for short days and long nights’. After a bit of a break from releasing material, James Young, Aiden Whalley and James Buttery are back, having amicably left Kode-9’s stable for a new home on Warp Records, with a forthcoming twelve inch on November 12th entilted ‘News #1-10’ that contains ten locked-groove loops, as well as this appropriately titled track ‘Timeaway’. Described by the trio as ‘a good starting point to releasing music again, it’s very much us looking forward’, the single is available for download here
