Down The Line

The debut release ‘Meditations On Afrocentrism’ by Romare is out now on Black Acre Records and is described as drawing connections between ‘the history of African and African-American culture in the form of collage to create musical conversations between the past, present and future’. Featuring some jazz tinged footwork and hip hop rhythms, the sparse footwork of ‘Freedom (Aspirations Of A Prisoner)’ features on the latest Brownswood Bubblers compilation compiled by Gilles Peterson, who was also impressed enough to nominate the London based producer for breakthrough act in this years World Wide Awards. A new EP is in the bag and will be out on Black Acre shortly, and here’s a remix of recent Mercury Award winners Alt-J.
