Solar Migration

Irish duo John Kowalski and Rian Trench aka Solar Bears are about to follow up their critically acclaimed ‘She Was Coloured In’ debut album with ‘Supermigration’ on Planet Mu. The result of eighteen months of on and off studio time in a state-of-the-art studio in the Wicklow Mountains, they’ve retained the electronic sci-fi sheen, but refined and expanded on their sound, and the title, apparently ‘inspired by Native American culture and the krautrock band Neu’ gives a pretty good indication where the mystic, multi-layered music is coming from. Described by the duo as as ‘darker and more psychedelic’, two vocal highlights come courtesy of guest appearances by Sarah P from Keep Shelly In Athens and Beth Hirsch who worked with Air on ‘Moon Safari’, while over at self-titled mag there’s a full album stream, plus a track-by-track commentary from the duo.
