Without Borders

You should already be familiar with the new album release from Simon Green aka Bonobo, but we couldn’t let ‘The North Borders’ go without a bit of a mention. Taking it’s name from the flight Green often takes from New York to London, he recently explained ‘all these huge frozen expanses which I fly over regularly, I never know what’s down there, and I like the imagery of borders and moving away from traditional geographical fixings; the album has that sort of non-nationalistic sound to it.’ The thirteen strong collection, which begins with the Grey Reverend featuring ‘First Fires’, has been described in glowing terms such as ‘thematic, resonant, addictive and perfectly formed’ or ‘sumptuous and accomplished’, and very much continues the themes explored on it’s predecessor ‘Black Sands’. And much like that album introduced us to Andreya Triana, ‘The North Borders’ features a couple of tracks with upcoming London based vocalist Szjerdene.
