Helsinki Beat Tape

After making music as Cassettes Won’t Listen, Los Angeles producer Jason Drake recently released ‘Helsinki Beat Tape (Part One)’ as Dfalt, the moniker under which he’s been producing since a self-titled EP emerged a couple of years ago. Described as ‘instrumental hip hop built on dirty chopped samples, dusty drums, and hauntingly emotional melodies’, the release will be the first part of a beat tape trilogy, crafted using tools such as Ableton, MPC100, Technics 1200’s, various Korg Koass Pads, and a Casio SK-1, amongst other things. The album is available direct from Daylight Curfew digitally, on limited edition Cassette, or CD, while over at Beat Delete there’s a limited edition, multi-coloured, hand numbered vinyl complete with extra goodies.
