We previously mentioned the upcoming ‘Speak Soon’ series of collaborative twelve inch EP release on the new Yellow Year label run by Prefuse73, that will see the renowned beat maker joining forces with people whose work he admires such as Nosaj Thing, Lapalux, Nathan Fake, Synkro, and Dimlite. The first release is from the Sons of the Morning collaboration with Teebs, which has been around for over twelve months and looks like finally bearing fruition on the forthcoming ‘Volume One’. On his motivations behind forming the label, the man behind Yellow Year recently explained to SPIN that ‘I just wanted to create something different from the way that I’ve been releasing music for my entire career. A platform in which I can work without confines and can devise a concept. It isn’t a defiant statement against labels or the music industry by any means. I like to think of Yellow Year as a “non-label” that isn’t really thinking about the industry at all’.
