Wish You Were Here

Aside from production duties for Captain Murphy and Earl Sweatshirt, we haven’t heard a great deal from Los Angeles beat maker Sam Baker, better known as Samiyam, since his Brainfeeder released debut album a couple of years ago, but that’s all set to change on October 8th with a sixteen track collection titled ‘Wish You Were Here’ on Leaving Records. In what has become an increasingly saturated beats scene, Samiyam’s uncomplicated sound sets him apart from his contemporaries, and of the release he says ‘I’m just trying to show where I’m coming from…..I’m not about futuristic spaceship beats, just straight forward hip-hop.’ The album is completed by some truly eye popping artwork by Charles Munka, and is available on cassette from Stones Throw, along with a t-shirt titled ‘Donut vs Pistol’, aka ‘The Edible Silencer for the Hungry Hitman’.
