Following last year’s ‘Nebula Dance’ album, Brighton producer Alan Myson’s latest endeavour as Ital Tek on Planet Mu has been described as ‘sophisticated and dense sci-fi music that flexes your senses’. Over eight tracks and twenty five minutes, ‘Control’ uses the footwork and drum & bass hybrid of the previous release as a starting point to build on, and the deft combination of rolling drums, glossy textures, rich chords, and frenetic patterns are certainly an expansion on what has been heard before. A couple of the tracks veer a bit too close to trap territory, but are more than made up for with some beautiful compositions such as ‘Challenger Ascent’ and ‘Zero’. You can hear a couple of cuts from the album, plus previously unreleased Ital Tek material, and the House Of Black Lanterns remix of ‘Flocon’ by Moresounds on a recent i-D Magazine mix. [via]
