It was almost inevitable that something from ambient legend Markus Guentner would end up on the Ghostly International imprint run by Jakub Alexander, and it looked increasingly likely after the German artist provided something for the ‘Loyal Reworks’ release from Alexander’s own Heathered Pearls project. The lush ambient pieces infused with hints of techno that make up the ‘Shadows Of The City’ EP on Moodgaget are said to ‘capture a fleeting sensation of experiencing time and space on a novel but disarmingly-familiar scale’; and as you might expect, much of the material is of the warm, gentle, resonant variety. Only the title track itself, which is available for free download, refers back to both Guentner’s techno beginnings on Kompakt by bringing some gently pulsing beats into the equation. [via]
