Measured Modulation

After something of a hiatus, London beatmaker Huess has recently returned with his first new solo material in over a year. The four track ‘Sandpaper’ digital-only EP, which is available for free via Inaudible Answer, is said to represent ‘his most personal musical statement to date’ and opens with the languid, late night tones of the more song-structured title track, followed by the more Huess-like skewed, bass heavy, hip-hop of ‘Pinnacle’. The EP closer ‘Recidivist’ returns to the elastic bass and heavy rap sampling typical of the London beatmaker’s back catalogue, and two of the tracks feature alongside material from artists such as Prefuse73, Arca and Kaytranada on the half-hour ‘I Hear Beats People‘ mix.
