The Future Never Comes

The next project from Benjamin Wynn, otherwise known as Deru, officially launched today with the Los Angeles based musician asking people to share their history by uploading poignant photographs to an online gallery at an interactive website. Over a year in the making, the ambitious, multi-layered project – dubbed ‘a celebration of memory in its essential, shared nature’ – is centred around emotions and collective memories from the lives and times of our generation, and will culminate with the release of an ‘ambient concept album’ on Friends Of Friends in June later this year. Each album track which was recorded directly onto tape will be accompanied by a short film from film-maker and designer Anthony Ciannamea, but for now the first phase at www.1979.la features many contributions from the likes of The Gaslamp Killer, Shigeto, and Amon Tobin.
