Synthesis Of Sound

Probably best known for his vocal work with Simian and the Black Ghosts project with Theo Keating, or as one half of Arclight alongside Lukid, Simon Lord has brought his Lord Skywave moniker to Astro:Dynamics with the release of ‘Cardomon Copy’. The nine tracks come from a period where the multi-instrumentalist was utilising an old Tascam 4-track cassette recorder, resulting in ‘a dubbed-out, psychedelic and deconstructed sound’ featuring some beautifully constructed, heavily textured, minimalist analogue, ambient experiments and distant vocal arrangements. Fitting comfortably within the London-based label’s blurry electronic aesthetic, it’s out digitally or on a special cassette edition, and there’s a blissful Lord Skywave synthesis mix of influences, featuring music from Brian Eno, Aphex Twin, Echoplex and Daphne Oram over at RBMA Radio.
