Repeat The Process

Following a series of rare twelve-inch releases on various Drum & Bass platforms, the original and inventive sounds of New Zealand producer Oliver Peryman, better known as Fis, were first introduced late last year with the release of the acclaimed ‘Preparations’ on Tri Angle. At the time it was said Peryman was ‘in the process of uncovering an altogether new rhythmic grammar’, and he continues these explorations into unchartered territory with the ‘Iterations’ EP via the Brooklyn label. While the confusion of rhythms and structures are still very much present, there’s a more expansive and slightly more accessible feel to some of the material on offer, as the track ‘Womb Dream’ suggests, however the final two tracks ‘Fever Sweats’ and ‘Her Third Eye (Drum Rain)’ are uncompromising in their seemingly random approach, but reveal themselves to be nothing short of captivating upon repeated listens. The digital is out now, followed by the vinyl at the end of the month.
