Machine and Metropolis

Almost a year after launching a tour around the imagined, dystopian metropolis of ‘Vapor City’, Travis Stewart otherwise known as Machinedrum, is set to bring the ambitious project to a close with the release of the ‘Vapor City Archives’ in November. With its foundations built on the critically acclaimed album of the same name, the venture has gone onto include a series of accompanying EP’s concentrating on a specific district, plus a handful of free downloads available to anyone who signed up for citizenship of Vapor City; and with each facet colouring the concept further, it’s resulted in one of the more comprehensive and involving electronic music themes of recent times. The final chapter again see’s Stewart exploring the hybrid hinterland between juke and footwork, hip hop and drum & bass rhythms over nine brand new productions, and similarly, the release will again be accompanied by artwork from LuckyMe’s Dom Flannnigan and Éclair Fifi.
