The Maze To Nowhere

At the end of last month Marcos Ortega, otherwise known as Lorn, put out the first part of his ‘Maze To Nowhere’ download series for free via Bandcamp, which featured five dark and dusty lo-fi tracks in keeping with his idiosyncratic mix of  heavy-weight aesthetics and beautiful melodies seen on releases such as ‘Ask The Dust’ and ‘Debris’ on Ninja Tune. Details are sketchy as to how many more volumes will be released, but the material so far seem’s to fall nearer to the lo-fi analogue renderings of ‘Debris’ as opposed to the visceral murkiness and industrial soul of ‘Ask The Dust’, nevertheless the darkly uplifting and utterly uncompromising music remains, from one of the most strikingly original beatmakers/ producers around today.
