Functioning The Void

The ‘Angels & Devils’ project from Kevin Martin under the guise of The Bug is set to continue with the release of the ‘Exit’ EP, which was heralded earlier this month with the track ‘Black Wasp’ featuring Liz Harris from Grouper. The artwork design is again handled by Simon Fowler of Cataract Press and follow’s the album’s visual aesthetic, whereas South London based Factory Fifteen (along with production company and digital studio Nexus) are responsible for a video for ‘Function/Void’, which combines the deeply heavyweight album opener featuring the aforementioned Harris and the acid-grime of ‘Function’ with Manga from Roll Deep. Of the astonishing short, the director’s have said ‘we wanted to reflect The Bug’s thematic ideas and visually explore the narrative of a person stuck in a totalitarian system, using themes from our current society of consumerist lifestyles’. Out on October 6th via Ninja Tune, the EP is completed by ‘Blaow’ which features long time Bug collaborator and sound-system/ragga legend Daddy Freddy.
