Hush Of Humble Joy

04b

At a time when technologies are enabling artists to easily swap ideas with each other without being in the same country, never mind the same room, it’s perhaps refreshing that the recent joint ventures being put out by Project Mooncircle are bucking the trend. The excellent ‘Push’ EP from My Panda Shall Fly & Mau’lin has recently been followed by the twelve track ‘Memoosh’ release by William Yates and Soroosh Khavari, aka Memotone and Soosh; a project commissioned by the label itself which grew during eight weekend sessions spread over the course of twelve months. Eschewing the usual modern modes of communication to make room for improvisation, the album mixes live instrumentation with effect boxes, samplers, vocals and field recordings, and has been described as ‘more an exploration of their approach rather than anything conceptually thematic, representing both characters and personalities in the music’. Packed full of ideas and ranging from simple piano pieces through to clattering, organic drum & bass rhythms, ‘Memoosh’ is out now on limited grey-marbled double vinyl and limited handmade/handpainted cassette editions.
