The Volume Of Sleep

After putting out albums on Eklektic Records, Black Acre and Project Mooncircle, Sofia-based duo Margarit Aleksiev and Nikilay Todorov, better known as 1000 Names, are about to make a comeback, of sorts, on the Drut Recordings label run by Kelpe. Once firmly entrenched in expertimetnal beats and electronic hip hop scene, we haven’t heard much from the Bulgarian duo in the last couple of years and on first evidence the material on ‘Migration Pads’ suggests a shift into different territories without losing the influence of where their music came from. Out October 27th, the press release explains that the duo have embraced new forms and combined disparate styles of music over the album’s ten tracks, from half-time techno templates and fuzzy loops, to shimmering piano lines and warm textures, and the first taster comes in the form of the loose limbed, lo-fi house of new single ‘Caravan’, which has got an edit courtesy of Dutch beatmaker Coco Bryce.
