Living For The City

Almost twelve months after launching an audio and visual tour around the imagined, dystopian metropolis of ‘Vapor City’, Travis Stewart otherwise known as Machinedrum, has just brought the ambitious project to a close with the release of the ‘Vapor City Archives’ on Ninja Tune. With its foundations built on the critically acclaimed album of the same name; the venture has gone onto include a series of accompanying EP releases each concentrating on a specific district, as well as a handful of free downloads available to anyone who signed up for citizenship of Vapor City. Each facet has built onto and coloured the concept further, resulting in probably the most comprehensive and involved electronic music themes of recent times, and the closing chapter again see’s Stewart exploring the hybrid hinterland between juke and footwork, hip hop and drum & bass rhythms over nine brand new productions. Anyone who missed the extra material given away to those on the Vapor City mailing list will also receive music upon purchase of the new release.
