Since You’ve Been Gone

London producer Stray is probably better known for his meticulously crafted Drum & Bass and big Jungle rhythms on labels such as Exit Records and Critical Music, but he’s recently put out the ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’ mixtape which shines a light on a collection of dusty, Dilla-esque instrumental Hip Hop beats gathered from a couple of years ago. In a recent interview with FACT he describes the tracks that make up the collection as ‘definitely a bit rough around the edges…as it stands they serve as a sort of foggy snapshot into the past’. The London producer further explains that he wanted to give all the tracks away in mixtape format because he feel’s they belong together and the format allows him to draw a line under the music, thereby allowing a focus on new music for a forthcoming album on Exit.  If you haven’t done so, check out his Ivy Lab collaboration with Sabre and Halogenix for more Drum & Bass and Hip Hop originals, remixes and Bootlegs.
