Use Your Illusions

Having originally come into focus through a couple of EP releases on Project Mooncircle, London based beat maker Dario Rojo Guerra aka Flako has been steadily moving away from some off-the-grid and sample-heavy hip hop sounds into warmer, more earthy tones and soulful melodic textures. This transition was probably best exemplified by the ‘Eclosure’ EP on Five Easy Pieces a couple of years ago which saw Guerra bring in live instrumentation, analog synths, and his own voice to the production. Having more recently broadened his musical palette further on Eglo Records with a self-titled release as Dirg Gerner and production duties on Fatima’s debut long player, he’s due to release a debut album under his original moniker in the new year. For the time being the track ‘Illusions’ has been offered up for free download, which is explained by the man himself as ‘processing a few experiences and realizations about the influence of illusions…which is basically a distortion of the senses… and is a part of a never ending process of self reflection’.
