We first encountered New York beat maker Chester Raj Anand aka Lord RAJA from his trio of beat tapes released last year on Brooklyn based digital label Astro Nautico. Having previously released beats under the InfinitiRock moniker on Asthmatic Kitty, Detriot based music hub Ghostly International has picked him up and recently made a six track collection titled ‘Rubies’ available for free download. Described as ‘lush and beautiful throughout, creating a sound that’s immersive and distinctive’, the sample heavy low-fi hip hop includes this track featuring acclaimed jazz pianist Vijay Iyer, who wrote a part specifically for the song.
